Colombia Road Trip: Coffee Region
Fredonia, Manizales, Filandia, Salento, Valle de Cocora.
05/2023
My brother and his wife visited us for his 40th birthday in May, 2023. We organized an epic road trip starting in Medellín and finishing in Valle de Cocora, with a few key stops along the way. This was my first big road trip (~8hrs) in Colombia--blown away by the terrain.
Fredonia (Santa Isabel Hacienda Coffee Farm): Valentina's family has a coffee farm ~1hr outside of Medellín. This place was serene and set the trip off to a great start with that warm Paisa hospitality.
Manizales: known for it's elevation, greenery and volcano, a perfect place for a boutique hotel and hot springs. We stayed at Termales El Otoño to soak it in. Withheld the volcano being active until after.
Filandia: an unexpected gem of a town and now a fav restaurant in all of Colombia, Helena Adentro.
Salento/Valle de Cocora: the hype is real and Valle de Cocora national park didn't disappoint. Known for the tallest palm trees in the world at 200 feet.
