Jardín, Colombia
Jardín
02/2024
A road trip to Jardín, with mini stops in Salgar, Cauca Viejo and Jericó. Jardín was the highlight--the most breathtaking small town in all of Colombia, in my humble opinion. So far at least. Perhaps what is most special is that it is a bit off the main tourist highway and is not front and center to the hype like Salento. More charm and authenticity, por favor.
Jardín (or garden) is a colorful colonial town embedded into a lush green hilly landscape known for delicious coffee, nature, rivers, exotic birds and hikes. It's magical. I got to shoot a nice series of everyday life here. People coming off of a day of hard work, getting out of church or having their morning tinto. The town square is also my favorite out of any of the colonial towns I have seen so far. Ideal layout to bring people together---you can feel the liveliness when it gets moving.
Hotel Plantación is an eco friendly hotel and boutique paradise. The staff are lovely--we will most certainly be back.
